The third annual , a month-long charitable dining program partnering and more than 20 restaurants and businesses in Middlesex County, will kick off May 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at in Middletown.
The kick-off will be hosted by restaurant owners Brenda Reilly and Lynne Reilly. The two women collaborated with Middlesex Hospital in 2010 to found Appetite for Life in memory of , Brenda’s brother and Lynne’s husband. Reilly died from cancer in November 2009.
“Tim’s courage during his battle with cancer was an inspiration to all of us who loved and admired him,” Brenda Reilly said.
Appetite for Life benefits the hospital’s Center for Survivorship & Integrative Medicine. Each participating business picks a date in June to donate a portion of that day’s proceeds.
Live music for the kick-off party will be donated by the Steve Polezonis Trio. A donation of $10 covers hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and a glass of wine or beer.
Tickets can be purchased in person at Tuscany Grill or online. Those unable to attend who would like to make a contribution in Reilly’s name can donate on the Web.
Tuscany Grill will also host “Tip a Cancer Caregiver” on June 21. Staff from the hospital’s Cancer Center and the Center for Survivorship & Integrative Medicine will shadow wait staff and tips the caregivers receive will be donated to the CSIM.
The Reillys’ sister restaurant, Baci Grill in Cromwell, will participate in Appetite for Life on June 14, when 10 percent of all lunch and dinner purchases will be donated.
