How Does an Upscale Day Spa in Durham Sound? [Poll]

The Planning and Zoning Commission is reviewing the town's regulations to determine whether empty office space on Main Street can be turned into a spa.

 

In the 1700s, it was a tavern. Then, it became someone's home. And soon, 199 Main Street in Durham could be turned into an upscale day spa and salon.

You may have noticed that the property recently underwent extensive exterior rennovations and according to the minutes of the June 6 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, Durham Manufacturing (which owns the building) was recently approached by someone interested in renting the property and turning it into a spa.

Attorney John Corona told commission members that a formal application could be submitted as early as next month.

Meanwhile, the PZC is reviewing the town's regulations to determine whether the empty office space can accomodate such a business.
