Man's Body Found at Wadsworth Falls

A 41-year-old Bristol man was found dead Sunday afternoon at Wadsworth Falls in Middlefield, according to authorities.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 3 p.m., Connecticut State Police Sgt. Sal Calvo said.

Police initially said the man appeared to have fallen, striking his head. Reports indicate the man's body was discovered in the Coginchaug River near the bridge along Cherry Hill Road, adjacent to the park.

A source told Patch the body may have been in the water for an extended period of time, however the circumstances surrounding the man's death are still under investigation.

Emergency crews closed park and part of Cherry Hill Road from the Rockfall Garage to Hubbard Street during the investigation.
