I stand by what I have said previously:  I respect the electoral process, the voters, and those who participate in the process.

Looking back, I do not believe I would have done anything differently during the Campaign.  I had a message and a plan, and I stuck to them.  I firmly believe Killingworth needs to do more in regards to protecting its financial future (budgets, taxes, and revenue), to keep living in Killingworth affordable.  The majority of voters say they are satisfied with the current results and direction provided by our Town’s leadership…

I did not run a popularity contest.  I won’t be running out to join the different civic organizations and committees in Town in an attempt to gain popularity in the Community before the next Election.  There are many good people, doing good work in these groups.  I do not see my participation making a significant contribution to their efforts.    I won’t join, just to make myself known or popular.  That is not my way.

I believe a leader needs to be a proactive planner for the future, in addition to managing the present.  A leader sometimes has to make unpopular decisions, to take a less popular stand, in order to protect the best interest of the future.  That is the kind of leader I am.

I wish only the best for our Community.  We will see where the future takes us.

Thank you to the Killingworth Republican Town Committee, and to our Community for allowing me the opportunity to run for 1st Selectman.

Sincerely,

Bill Romero
