Protecting Killingworth's Future

Bill Romero for 1st Selectman - Killingworth

Killingworth is facing two significant challenges going into the future:  the threat of decreasing property values and the need to find new sources of revenue besides raising property taxes.

As 1st Selectman I will look for ways to help increase the value of property in Killingworth.  I will actively participate with our School Board in striving to make District #17 one of the best school districts in CT.  I will support and promote the businesses and contractors in our Community.  I will support, protect, and look for ways to grow our community projects, and parks and recreation programs.

I have several ideas for potential new sources of revenue for Killingworth.  I will propose to Killingworth’s Parks and Recreation Committee to explore the construction of a Sports Facility/Hockey Rink.  Currently to play hockey you travel 30 minutes plus to find a facility.  Killingworth could build this facility.  Revenue from this facility would go directly to Killingworth.  This would be a multi use facility with a gym and exercise rooms.  It would be built and operate as a “green facility.”   This project will be partially funded by grants and corporate donations.

I will propose to the Parmelee Committee an “alternative energy” project.  I would like to explore the possibility of a wind mill on the Parmelee property.  To produce energy that would be used there on the farm at no cost to it, and the unused energy to be sold back to the utility as revenue source for Killingworth.  The project would be paid for with green energy initiative grants.  If successful, we could consider this project on a larger scale.

I will look for developers to build age “55 plus condominium communities” in Killingworth.  These communities will add to our grand list without adding additional financial burden onto the “school district.”

We need to think about Killingworth’s future.  This is just a beginning.  I do not claim to have all the answers to the challenges we are facing ahead.  I am willing to listen and entertain ideas from everyone.  I feel if we allow Killingworth to grow the right way, we can meet the challenges ahead.  I am willing to take on these challenges.  I hope you will support me in doing this.

Please vote Bill Romero for 1st Selectman in Killingworth on November 8.

Thank you!

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
