Newt wants us to go to the moon...

If you have not heard...Speaker Gingrich at the last Florida debate suggested we should explore going to the moon.  Florida, with the Space Center and all of the out of work folks from the space industry and how the economy in that area is hurting as a result of the closing of the Space Center.  Is he hoping to get votes from those people by saying that...absolutely.

The other candidates laughed at the idea.  The late night comedians, news, and talk shows have had a field day making light of the idea. 

Everyone may want to take a moment from their laughter/cynicism and look back in history...say 1961.  A political leader then suggested we needed to go to the moon.  

Eight years later, we were there.  Can you fathom how much economic growth came out of that effort?  What about the technology that was discovered and how it has affected our lives today?

We can wait till closer to April to debate who CT believes the Republican candidate for President should be.  I am just pointing out that maybe we shouldn't be so quick to laugh at someone who is trying to offer a new, or in this instance an old, idea when it comes to offering solutions to our economic crisis.
