Killingworth Republicans' Plan 2011
Killingworth Republicans have a plan while others do not
The Problem - Property values are dropping and taxes are going up. What is the Republican Plan to reverse these trends?
Control Budgets and Add Value to our Community
- To continue to tighten budgets and be fiscally responsible. The Town Budget decreased by 8% this year thanks to the Republican controlled BOS (Fred Dudek) and BOF (Chairman John McMahon).
- To continue to maintain reserve funds. This is money for; emergencies, daily town operations, potential real estate purchases, and to maintain our excellent bond rating.
- To support and further develop our Parks and Recreation, and Community programs and projects. They make a tremendous contribution to Killingworth. They add value to our close knit Community.
- 80% of your tax dollars goes to District #17. We pledge to support our Board of Education members in developing financially prudent ways of strengthening our schools so that our District will be the best in Connecticut.
- To join other small Towns to lobby the State Legislature to limit “unfunded mandates” and to change the formula for funding the Educational Equalization grant to Regional School Districts.
- Support our local businesses. The services they provide add value to the Community!
- To develop a long-term plan regarding road and bridge maintenance and improvements.

- Develop Town owned businesses that would produce revenue for Killingworth.
- Explore planned growth, which will add to the grand list without adding additional burden to our Town budget.
- To listen to all ideas that will add revenue to Killingworth in an effort to stop further tax increases.
The Killingworth Republican Candidates pledge to protect the rural character and personality of our Community. We will protect the “individualism” of our residents. We pledge a fiscally responsible approach to spending your tax dollars. After all, it’s your money, not ours. We must get the most efficient use of all dollars proposed and spent on all capital, land use and recreational projects. We must carefully determine what we can really afford. We want to preserve what we have now, so that future residents can enjoy what we have today!
