New Concert Band for Adults in Durham and Middlefield

Dust off your saxophone or tune up your trumpet and join the area's newest group, the Coginchaug New Horizons Band.

Have you always wanted to play a musical instrument but never had the opportunity? It is never too late to start!

This spring there will be a new concert band program for adults ages 50 and up in the towns of Middlefield and Durham. The band will be called the ‘Coginchaug New Horizons Band’ and will be directed by Memorial Middle School band director Tim Fisher.

No previous musical experience is necessary! Whether you have always enjoyed music from the outside but never had the opportunity to play in a band or if you played when you were in school and are looking to get back into it, this is the perfect ensemble for you!

The band will focus on instruction from the ground up, beginning with the basics and growing into a performing Concert Band.

Those interested should attend one of two informational meetings being held next week. The meeting locations and times are as follows:

Wednesday, May 1st at 7:00pm at The Independent Day School, 115 Laurel Brook Road, Middlefield and Thursday, May 2nd at 7:00pm at the Durham Activity Center, 350 Main Street, Durham.

Those unable to attend but interested in participating should email director Tim Fisher at coginchaugnhband@gmail.com. The band will begin rehearsing in late May on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 at the Independent Day School in Middlefield.

This amazing opportunity has been made possible by a grant from the Coginchaug Valley Education Foundation
