FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: BEYOND THE CRAFT: HOW TO BE PROACTIVE AND TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR CREATIVE CAREER! This Saturday, June 23rd, 10am to 5pm, Oddfellows Playhouse, Middletown, CT. Guapa Films, LLC is proud to present this intense full day workshop for working and aspiring actors, writers, directors, key crew, singers, comedians, journalists, authors, designers, musicians, artists, producers and entrepreneurs. It's a bottom line, no bull and insider's approach to doing what you need to do to make a living creatively in this economic age. Former ICM Agent And award-winning writer, director and producer Jim Jermanok will distill 30 years of experience into an empowering nuts and bolts, bottom-line, no bull, and potentially life transforming workshop. Rarely has a former agent at a major agency been available to give an uncensored take on creative and uncensored take. Jim Jermanok has spoken to dozens of audiences worldwide at colleges and universities, film festivals, theaters, and media/arts organizations on the 25 years of wisdom he's acquired about succeeding in the world of entertainment. For the first decade of his career, Jim was employed as an ICM (International Creative Management) Agent where he represented Alan Arkin, John Guare, Helen Hayes, Arthur Miller, Shirley MacLaine, Dudley Moore, Henry Winkler and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, among others. There, he was privy to understanding how actors, writers, directors, and producers succeeded in the entertainment industry.  What they have in common in contrast to the majority of creative folks who fail to make a living in their chosen creative field. Jim Jermanok did exactly what his clients advised and for the past 16 years he has had the good fortune to work as an award-winning writer, director and producer in independent film, theater, television and new media.  In 2003, a full-length feature romantic comedy he wrote and produced, "PASSIONADA," was released by The Samuel Goldwyn Company domestically and by Columbia Tri-Star internationally in over 150 countries.  He was very fortunate to receive high praise from a number of prominent film critics, including "Two Thumbs Up!" from Ebert and Roper.  In 2008, Jim produced "EM," an intense romantic drama by the gifted writer-director, Tony Barbieri ("The Magic of Marciano").  "EM" had it world premiere in June 2008 at the Seattle Intl. Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Film from among the more than 200 entries.  It had a worldwide release late last year by Vanguard Cinema and SnagFilms.  Jim is currently on the verge of finishing "AGGANIS," a feature documentary I directed about a renowned New England sports legend in the 1940s and 1950s and a prince of a man, Harry Agganis. Now Jim wants to pass along this wisdom to others in a compelling way with his workshop, BEYOND THE CRAFT: What You Need to Know to Make A Living Creatively.  This workshop is intended to communicate exactly which qualities and tools successful creative professionals and students need to achieve prominence and a livable income.  They utilize the distinct approach and philosophy Jim has cultivated over the years to make a living as a creative professional. They are also intended to help liberate creatives from solely depending on others, like agents, managers, casting directors, directors and producers. Jim draws upon his decade-long tenure as an Agent and over 16 years as a working and acclaimed filmmaker to cover: . Distinguishing yourself and your projects; . Promoting and pitching yourself and your projects; . Selecting the right project--what to watch out for; . Schmoozing like a pro; . Developing a networking system that works; . How to find and convince investors; . Importance of informational interviews; . Essentials of understanding basic legal paperwork/contracts; . How to find and deal with agents, managers and gatekeepers; . Assembling a team that works; . International co-producing; . Narrative and reality television; . New media opportunities; .
