Veterans Honored in Middlefield Ceremony

November 12th marked a day of remembrance for the many who have served in the United States. The community of Middlefield held is annual Veterans Day ceremony on the Town Green.

Veterans Day brought the community together to remember and reflect upon the many that have served the United States. The ceremony included a prayer that was led by the Rev. Dale Azevedo and a lowering of the flag to half-staff in honor of the fallen soldiers. Boy scouts laid a wreath to honor the veterans.

Selectman, Jon Brayshaw spoke to the crowd suggesting that honoring the veterans should not only be observed, but practiced as well. Brayshaw gave the following statements:

"Honor them by volunteering at a VA hospital.
Honor them by providing transportation to local veterans that can no longer drive.
Honor them by knowing the names of the veterans in your town and checking on their well being from time to time.
Honor them by recognizing and respecting the needs of a veteran's family.
Honor them by displaying the flag.
Honor them by participating in local memorials.
Honor them by teaching your children of war and peace.
Honor them by looking for ways to employ veterans.
Honor them by praying for their safety.
But most of all, honor them by taking every opportunity to say thank you."
