Traffic Alert: Pent Road Will Be Closed Monday from 7 a.m. to Noon

The Town of Durham Public Works wishes to notify the residents of the following:

Pent road will be CLOSED on Monday August 5th, 2013. It is anticipated that the closing will begin at 7 am. If all goes as planed, the road should be re-opened by noon. Drivers are encouraged to take an alternate route. All traffic will be re-routed and a detour route will be marked with signage for drivers who may be unfamiliar with the area. Residents who live on the street are asked to do the following. Identify yourself to a traffic control person, then they will give you instructions on how to proceed. Under no circumstances should any driver, drive on freshly sprayed oil, until it has been covered.

Due to the size of the construction equipment, and the narrow nature of Pent Road, it would be unsafe to try to do a one lane alternating traffic pattern. By the closure of the street to traffic, during this resurfacing process, it not only insures the safety of the workers, it also will give us the quickest opportunity to get the road re-opened in a expedient manner.

Due too the rainy weather pattern in early spring, the project has been delayed by 17 days. However the good news is the project is coming to a close. After the road is resurfaced some safety striping/signage improvements will follow. The project will then be at the ninety-five percent completion level. The public works department would like to thank the residents for their patience. There are no further road closures expected.

It's almost over, just hang in there just a little longer. Once the project is completed, please take a slow ride down Pent Road and not only enjoy the road improvements, but look around. The scenery is awesome..
