Resident Starts Petition Over Wadsworth Falls Vandalism, Overcrowding

Rockfall resident Carol Schweitzer-Schilling has created a petition in an effort to get town and state officials to take the drastic measure of shutting down Wadsworth Falls in Middlefield.

Schweitzer-Schilling, who is a longtime resident of Rockfall and as Justice of the Peace has officiated wedding ceremonies at the scenic waterfall, details her reason for wanting to close the park immediately in the petition (see below).

The document is available at the Trackside Deli on Main Street in Rockfall. As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, it had 16 signatures.

Schweitzer-Schilling said anyone interested in signing the petition may also contact her directly at carolsschilling@yahoo.com.

Hello
July 30, 2013
To our Town of Middlefield Selectman: Mr. Jon Brayshaw
To our Commissioner of DEEP, CT: Mr. Michael Esty

We the undersigned residents of Middlefield and Rockfall Connecticut, hereby request the immediate closure of the Wadsworth Falls State Park in Rockfall.

It is evident from the vandalism that has occurred over the last two months that it is out of control and Public Safety is in jeopardy.

We are no longer content to let our jewel be destroyed. Colonel Wadsworth had a vision in 1941 and it is our duty to honor his request, even though our State has chosen not too.
