Army Sergeant Ryan Parmelee of Middlefield was recently the first local military veteran to receive a Veterans Star from the Coginchaug football team.
Coginchaug football players Jack Granger and Erik Stanzel honored Sgt. Parmelee by painting a star at his house. Parmelee, a Army medic, was deployed to Kuwait for his sixth tour of duty this spring.
