Middlefield Church to Recognize Late Region 13 Teacher in Ceremony

Anthony "Tony" Mills Dyer passed away in September and he will be remembered this Saturday.

The Middlefield Federated Church will be celebrating this weekend the life of Anthony "Tony" Mills Dyer, the late Regional School District 13 teacher who passed away in September.

The event is this Saturday, Nov. 30 , from 12-2 p.m., at the 402 Main St. church. The event is being organized by Hollie Rose, Rachael Dyer, and countless numbers of his former students.

Throughout his long career, Mr. Dyer influenced hundreds or thousands of students with his vivid accounts of historical events. A master story teller, students could not wait to attend his class. He not only insisted that students did their best, but demanded it. Everyday, he gave 200 percent to his classes and consequently, his students did not let him down.

Mr. Dyer taught social studies and history at Middlefield Memorial School and later at Coginchaug High School prior to his retirement in 1999. All are welcome to attend and share their favorite stories of this hugely influential teacher.
