Lake Beseck 'Advocate' Honored at Beach Day

July 28 was declared "Dick Boynton Day" in honor of the longtime resident and Lake Beseck Association president.

Longtime Middlefield and Rockfall resident Richard "Dick" Boynton was honored Saturday at the annual Lake Beseck Beach Day.

The town declared July 28 "Dick Boynton Day" in honor of the lake community's tireless advocate who retired this summer after serving 16 years as Lake Beseck Association (LBA) president.

"Lake Beseck is one of Middlefield's greatest treasures, and so are you," said First Selectman Jon Brayshaw.

During his tenure, Boynton was successul in helping the town install a sewage and sanitation system and worked with the state to implement an annual drawdown of Lake Beseck to prevent weed growth, a proclamation read.

For those efforts, Boynton was also recognized by LBA members. He was presented with a plaque of appreciation which was fixed to a stone set in front of a newly erected flag pole.

"This is an amazing community," Boynton said.

State Sen. Len Suzio and State Rep. Buddy Altobello were also on hand to present Boynton with a citation from the state legislature.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
