'Friend' of Durham Library Memorialized

On Friday, August 23 at the Durham Public Library, the newly designed entry display window was dedicated to the memory of Laurie Stevens.

Laurie, the President of PALS from 2003-2011, provided the energy and guidance to many library fund-raising projects. She initiated the flamingo visitations, chaired the Taste of Durham and continuously advocated for the library. Funds donated in her memory by loving friends and family enabled the new installation.

In attendance at the ceremony were over 40 present and past PALS members, Board Trustees, staff and volunteers. In true PALS tradition, the window design for the retrofit was donated by Sharon McCormick, a former PALS member, of Sharon McCormick Interior Design and Decorators.  Bob Isliep, RLI Electric graciously donated installation of the lighting.
