Vote for Killingworth's own, Jill Granucci!

Vote for your favorite local woman running for Miss N.H.

DOVER—The Tri-City and Seacoast area is sending several representatives to the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program this April, and you can help them get more scholarship funds.

For the second year, locals can help the panel of judges select the 12 semifinalists in the 2012 competition.

Regan Elizabeth Hartley of Dover won the title of Miss New Hampshire 2011 last year, and could crown one of our own.

Contestants in Miss N.H. representing the Tri-City and Seacoast area include Miss Hooksett Janine Mitchell of Dover, Miss Deerfield Fair Erica Millett of Durham, Miss Manchester Lissa Silk of Dover, Miss Strafford County Lauren Carter of Dover, Miss University Jillian Granucci a student at UNH, Miss Littleton Area Skylar Wood a student at UNH, Miss Seacoast Katie Carlson of Derry, and Miss Stratham Fair Sarah Mousseau of Stratham.

According to Bill Haggerty, Co-Executive Director and Executive Producer of the competition, the public will vote for their favorite contestant to be included among the semifinalists and potentially become Miss N.H. 2012. Votes may be cast at www.missnh.org or on the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program Facebook page (www.facebook.com/MissNH) — one vote in each avenue per person.

A panel of five judges determine ten contestants who earn the greatest number of points in the five phases of preliminary competition (private interview, lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit, evening wear, talent and on-stage question) to join the two contestants gathering the largest number of online votes in the top 12 on the final night of competition.

"It worked well beyond our expectations last year. Over 8,000 votes were registered for the 27 contestants," said Haggerty.

Contestants are encouraged to actively seek votes from friends, neighbors, and the general public through the media and social networks. Voting will be live between April 1 and April 25.

"We think that people are going to be excited about this opportunity and we encourage everyone to vote for their favorite Miss New Hampshire contestants," says Haggerty.

The annual competition will take place at the Stockbridge Theatre at Pinkerton Academy in Derry. Preliminary competitions are on April 26 and 27. The final competition, and crowning of Miss N.H. 2012 is on Saturday, April 28.
