"Many people who use this facility can tell you how bad it was downstairs and how it poorly represented our town," Nickel said. "With the new carpeting, the center can be used more effectively and is easily cleaned due to the low profile of the carpet."

Nickel said the hallway is now much quiter as well.

The project took about 200 hours of service between planning and carrying out the renovation, according to Nickel.

"It could not have been done without the help of the other scouts and people throughout the town," he said.

"I would like to thank the different departments at the Community Center, as well as Park and Rec., especially Chris Hurlburt, for setting up the Farmers Market/Tag Sales allowing me to sell items to raise money for the carpeting.

"Also, I would like to thank Ric Criscetello, the carpeting professional, who owns the FloorsNow on the Berlin Turnpike and who pointed us in the right direction and helped lay the ground work for the project."
