Durham Bake Sale Benefits Heifer International

The bake sale is Sunday, June 15.

The Catholic Outreach Committee of Notre Dame Church in Durham will host a bake sale to benefit Heifer International on Father’s Day weekend.

"We are again trying to see how many water buffalos we can provide," according to an event listing on Durham Patch. "Farmers in Southeast Asia rely on these animals to plow and provide milk. One farmer has said, 'If I die my family will grieve. If my buffalo dies, my family will starve'."

The event listing continues:

Heifer international raises these beautiful animals, gives them to farmers who are taught good farming methods. The first offspring is given to another family and so on. Because of these gifts families are often able to afford education, which further lifts them out of poverty.

Please support our effort to be a part of this process by baking for, volunteering to help at or purchasing something from the sale, which will take on Sunday, June 15, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Notre Dame Church Hall, 280 Main St., Durham.

Cards will also be available for those wishing to make a donation to memorialize or honor a loved one.

Call Sylvia Fazzino at 860-349-3761 or email sylviafazzino@gmail.com if you have questions or would like to help.
