Daily Five: CRHS Ranking, Annie, Jr. Tickets On Sale and Electronics Recycling Event Today

Five things to know for Thursday, April 25, 2013.

1. What's the Weather? Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 64. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 35.

2. Best High Schools U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools 2013 rankings were released this week and although Coginchaug Regional High School was not ranked among even Connecticut's top high schools, the school was rated near-or-above average in three categories.

The student-to teacher ratio at CRHS is 11-to-1, which puts the school into the 83rd percentile. The district's math proficiency is 96 percent while the reading proficiency is just slightly lower, at 94 percent.

24 percent of students at CRHS are considered "College Ready" based on the study's calculation of students take and pass AP exams.

Darien High School was ranked the top high school in the state and 217th overall.

3. Annie, Jr. Tickets Going Fast Tickets for the upcoming JLPA production of Annie, Jr. are selling out quickly! Tickets are $7 and on sale for the three shows at Coginchaug auditorium - May 3 at 7 p.m., May 4 at 7 p.m. and May 5 at 2 p.m. Visit showtix4u.com and search for "Annie, Jr." or "JLPA Theater."

4. Recycle Your Electronics In honor of Earth Day, the Middlesex Community College Computer Club is hosting the 4th Annual Free Computer & Electronics Recycling Event today from 10-3 p.m. Anything with a chord — except TVs — will be accepted.

5. Water Main Extension Durham's Water Commission will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. The agenda includes discussion about the Main Street water main extension project involving Durham and Middletown. The meeting is being held in the second floor conference room.
