Author Lucy Burdette Discusses New Book In Middlefield

Madison author Lucy Burdette paid a visit to the Middlefield Senior Center on Wednesday afternoon to discuss her latest book, Topped Chef.

The story is the latest in Burdette's Key West Food Critic mystery series, which follows protagonist Hayle Snow, a food critic living in Key West who embarks in sordid tales involving food and murder.

"These are light. They shouldn't keep you up at night the way some scary mysteries do but they are murder mysteries," Burdette told the audience.

Burdette, a clinical psychologist by trade, picked up writing in 2000 under her given name, Roberta Islieb, and authored a golf mystery series as a result of her obsession with the game. Her interests have shifted to the food mystery genre which has grown in popularity over the past several years.

"The reason why I think people love these kinds of books is that the bad guys always get it in the end. All of the loose ends are tied up. It's not like real life," she said.

Burdette's blog can be found at http://lucyburdette.com/ and her books are available at Amazon.com.
