Durham Residents Invited to Home Energy Savings Presentation

Durham-Middlefield Energy Task Force will host a presentation on residential energy saving programs offered through Energize Connecticut on April 24 and May 22.

On Thursday, April 24, and Thursday, May 22, the Durham-Middlefield Energy Task Force will host a presentation on residential energy saving programs offered through Energize Connecticut. 

The presentations will both be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Durham Public Library, located at 7 Maple Street. They are free of charge and open to the public. 

Residents will have the opportunity to learn more about energy-saving programs available to them, including the popular residential program Home Energy Solutions℠ (HES), designed to help people save money on their energy bills.

For those who sign up, CL&P-authorized energy specialists will come to your home or apartment and provide energy improvement services which include locating and professionally sealing critical air leaks, replacing up to 40 incandescent lights with energy-saving bulbs, and insulating hot water pipes. 

While these services are valued at an average of $1,000, the cost for the HES service is only $75 for homes heating with electricity or natural gas, $99 for homes heating with fuel oil and propane, and is free for those who meet income eligibility guidelines.

Additionally, energy experts will be on-hand to answer questions and provide more information about energy incentives for residents and options for deeper improvement measures for older homes.
