If you ask a Gold Star Mother about the loss of her son or daughter, her biggest fear is that their sacrifice will be forgotten. That is why we believe it is so important to take the time amid the hustle and bustle of the holidays to stop and remember our blessings that have come at such great cost.
The Wadsworth Chapter of the DAR will sponsor a Wreaths Across America Ceremony at the CT Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown and the Raymond Gates Cemetery in Rocky Hill on December 14th at 12 noon. You, your friends and your families are invited to attend these ceremonies.
There are over 9,000 Veterans and Fallen Warriors buried in the State Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown and over 1,500 buried in the Veterans' Cemetery in Rocky Hill. It is our mission to remember the men and women who served our country, honor our military and their families, and teach our children about our freedom and those who protect it.
Please join us by sponsoring a wreath. Sponsored wreaths are $15 each or you may select the option to sponsor 2 wreaths ($30) in which case a 3rd wreath will be donated free of charge. You may also sponsor a wreath in the name of someone who will receive a message from you and Wreaths Across America that a wreath has been sponsored in their honor. Contributions for wreaths to be placed on gravestones can be made on line at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org. Please enter “CTDAR006” as the sponsoring group code and the cemetery code of the cemetery of your choice:
State Veterans’ Cemetery in Middletown (CTMVCM) Col. Raymond Gates Memorial Cemetery in Rocky Hill (CTCRGR)
All contributions must be received at Wreaths Across America by November 21st.
Please note that we are unable to accept grave specific requests. Should you wish to have a wreath placed on a specific grave, we encourage you to bring it with you and attend the short ceremony, after which you may place it on the gravesite.
We hope that you and your families will come to one of these ceremonies to honor and remember our veterans.
