IDS Appoints New Head of School

“I am truly thrilled and honored about this appointment, ” announced Jessi Christiansen, the ninth, and first female, Head of The Independent Day School, in Middlefield. Besides her classroom experience, Jessi has worked extensively in admissions, marketing, public outreach, and strategic development.  A Connecticut native, Jessi was an Assistant Head of the Epiphany School in Seattle, Washington for nine years. Currently, she is finishing a two-year position at a PreK-12 school in Panama City, Panama, where she is the Director of Strategic Development.   Jessi has a Master of Science in Education from Bank Street College of Education and a Bachelor of Arts from Gettysburg College.

Jessi became the front-runner following an extensive selection process that included surveys by parents, teachers, administrators, staff, and members of the Board of Trustees.  Nadine Brennan, Head of the Search Committee enthused,  “There was clearly a stand-out. Jessi made an impact on everyone with her warmth, intelligence and sincerity."

"I am delighted about Jessi's appointment as our next Head of School,” remarked John Barrengos, the current Head.  “She will bring wonderful energy, intellectual curiosity and spirit to the school. I look forward to working with her on behalf of IDS."  Jessi will succeed John Barrengos, who will complete his six-year tenure as the school’s leader at the end of June.

I would suggest to parents to donate a book to the classroom or school library in their child's nameRead More to celebrate the child's birthday, or other significant event, instead of sending in cupcakes or other sweets.
