Lake Beseck Cardboard Boat Race: Photos & Results

Perfect weather and a last hurrah had by people of all ages who participated in the cardboard boat race at Lake Beseck put on by Middlefield Parks and Recreation.

People of all ages came out to participate in the cardboard boat race held at Lake Beseck on Saturday September 7.  The rules were to build boats out of cardboard and duct tape only. Decorative paint was allowed, costumes were encouraged.

Inevitably, the boats would eventually sink...however, we were a bit surprised at how well put together and creative many of the boats were.

Categories included 12 and under, over 12, Most Creative, Most Spectacular Sinking, Best Team Effort and Cutest Kids.

Among participants included "Green Eggs & Ham" boat by First Selectman, Jon Brayshaw; Middlefield Parks & Recreation Barge; Lake Beseck Association/Lake Environment Committee Boat; Bartolomeo's "3 Amigos" as well as many others.

Many thanks go out to all that helped with the planning of the event, DJ Joe Cunningham for the great tunes that matched the mood, Craig Orosz for shooting the movie after dark and our new Lake Manager, Mark June-Wells, NEE for being the designated safety/water clean up person and hauling me around to captured some exciting photos of everyone!

This will definitely be an annual event!
