Live Music Adds "Fresh" Flavor to Taste of Durham

There's still time to get your hands on tickets to Durham's must-attend event of the year - Taste of Durham.
The annual PALS sponsored fundraiser which benefits library programs will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Durham Public Library. Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at the library's front desk.
Twenty local restaurants and businesses will offer up hors d’oeuvres, mini-entrees and desserts at this year's event, including two new restaurants from Middletown - Anoho Asian Noodle House and Mondo Pizza. (You'll find the full restaurant list below)
"This year we decided to add something new and special – live music," says Laurie Stevens, PALS President and the event's organizer. "I believe that by mixing things up and trying new ideas we can keep a long-running event such as Taste of Durham fresh."
Acoustic duo Deep Ellum, known for their “Americana” mix of blues, old jazz, folk music, bluegrass and oldies, will perform live in the Community Rooms.
The due features the vocals of Durham resident Jon Swift, who also plays the upright bass and guitar. Rich Johnson, a talented guitarist in his own right, plays 6- and 12-string guitar as well as Dobro and also sings harmony vocals.
Bruce Schmottlach, long-time band director at Regional School District 13, will again treat Taste of Durham patrons on the piano in the lobby area.
Parking for the event will be available at Strong School. A shuttle will run continuously starting at 6 p.m.
